Beyond the set

Our life with animals goes far beyond filming.

MundoPark, Reserva Juan Luis Malpartida

More than 1,000 animals live together at MundoPark. For every one of them we work day after day with the same purpose: to give them the best possible quality of life.

  • RescueA reception centre for animal species across Andalusia. We rescue all kinds of animals and, once they have recovered, we carefully assess each case to return to the wild all those that can go back.
  • Where they come fromMany of our animals come from seizures linked to illegal trafficking. Others come from private owners who can no longer look after them and trust us to give them a new home.
  • ConservationWe take part in conservation projects for threatened species, such as the scimitar oryx (Oryx dammah) and the spur-thighed tortoise (Testudo graeca).
  • ManagementJuan Luis Malpartida Association.

Invasive species

Florida turtles

We take in Florida turtles (red-eared sliders) from private owners who can no longer look after them. They are a declared invasive species in Spain and, by taking them in, we stop them being released into rivers and ponds, where they compete with our native species, such as the European pond turtle (Emys orbicularis) and the Spanish pond turtle (Mauremys leprosa).

Rescue and release

Back to the wild

A Eurasian eagle-owl, moments before regaining its freedom. Many of the wild animals that reach MundoPark arrive injured; we care for them until they have recovered and, when the time comes, we return them to the wild. It is, without a doubt, the best part of our work.
